The Power of Leadership Providing Recognition
In your lifetime you have done a lot of great things, have you ever receive any recognition for it? If you have then you realize the positive impact it had on you. If youhaven't then you understand the negative impact it had on your morale.
There are countless tools you can utilize to provide your team with deserved recognition. Employee of the Month Parking, gift cards and time off to name a few. The types of recognition are so broad that your imagination can run wild with it.
Here are a few things to consider, Recognition programs are truly effective if they are fair, deserved and not just a formality. It should be witnessed by everyone and the recipients should feel sincerely appreciated and proud. This is their time to shine and realize the hard work and dedication they have consistently provided is recognized by everyone.
A few suggestions I can offer are Letters of Appreciation signed by the Manager and presentedat an awards ceremony. You can even go a bit further and send copies of the award to family members. I have used this and you will be amazed how many parents will thank you and tell you how great their son or daughter felt about it. I have even sent letters to principals of schools and they have made a big deal of it at the school.
It only takes a small portion of your time once a month to have an outstanding recognition program. The morale of your team will increase realizing they are truly appreciated for their efforts.
