A range of lift chair types including wheel, stair and vertical models

Imagine having a swivel recliner chair waiting for you when you get home after a long day at the office. You will sink gratefully onto its plush seat and raise your feet on the foot rest while you watch your favorite television show with a drink in hand. Whew! Bliss!

Enough of that. It only sounds good if you do have a recliner. But since we’re on the topic of reclining chairs, why don’t you get one? Here are some reasons why you should:

1) Most recliners now are automatic. You don’t need to manually adjust the recliner and the foot rest to get to your preferred angle. All you have to do is push one button or two to recline or return to an upright position.

2) Some swivel reclining chair manufacturers offer additional features, like heat and massage options. Wow! That’s double the pleasure! Reclining while the chair you’re sitting on emits heat and massages your tight muscles.

3) You don’t need to worry that it will ruin your interior dÃ??Ã?©cor or the theme of your living room. You can choose the color that will suit the surroundings where the chair will be parked from hundreds of options. When it comes to the skin, you can opt for leather, vinyl, fabric and other types. There are also microfiber swivel recliners if you’re the sensitive type.

4) Worried about space? There really is no reason to be. Wall-hugging reclining chairs are also available. If space is a bit limited, you just need to pick one of these. They are equipped with a mechanism that allows the seat to move forward when the chair reclines. That way, you don’t need to permanently occupy a bed-size space in your living room.

5) Petite? A six-footer? Heavier than 300 lbs.? No problem. Endless options are available. There are recliners that range in capacity from 300 lbs. to 600 lbs. If you need something heavier, you can purchase a Heavy Duty model which accommodates users looking for more than a 600-pound capacity. There are also tall and short-legged chairs to suit your height; and backs that correspond to the height of the user.

6) Swivels are not the only motion choice open to recliner buyers. If you are not satisfied with swiveling, choose a rocker recliner or a glider model to give you variation.

A swivel recliner chair is just one type of recliner. There are other models that cater to a buyer’s preference, height, weight and space requirements. Whatever your choice might be , having this furniture in your home doesn’t seem to be a bad idea.

In case you didn’t know, it’s ridiculously hard work having a baby. It’s nine months of worrying, eating for two and drinking for none, reading enough books to qualify for one’s Ph.D. in obstetrics, and enduring however many numbers of excruciating painful hours of labor. What else could be nearly as stressful? I think finding the perfect Baby gift is a close runner-up!

The task gets increasingly difficult if you are not a knowledgeable, experienced mom or grandma yourself; and the ante gets upped if you are buying for the second or third-time mom who already has all the basics.

Case in point: I know a neighbor on her third baby. She has everything her new baby needs. More than everything; as her house is full of new and gently used items piled up in teetering stacks in every available corner. When friends suggested throwing her a shower, this “new” mom practically snapped. The last thing she wanted or needed was another mound of ?stuff’ that a seasoned mom knows she really won’t use, no matter how cute or costly it is. Take note; don’t let this happen to you.

For the first-time mother, or the experienced pro, what a Mom really wants is something useable.

When shopping for a gift, or gifts, ideally you want a mix of perishable, practical, and whimsical items. Giving a gift they will actually use and appreciate will make you a legend among your friends. Collect a few of the prettiest and most practical things you know the new mother needs. Every new baby needs onesies, sleepers, socks, washcloths and bibs. Once you have a no-nonsense basic gift in hand, then feel free to add a personal or whimsical touch. A small keepsake of some kind is always appreciated.

Being the mom of two baby boys myself, it meant that we received enough blue teddy bears to overrun any magical picnic in the forest. I ended up re-gifting most of them to every available boy baby I could find over the next few years. Please, step AWAY from the giant, carnival-sized stuffed animals.

Remember Mom is a person too. She knows that her baby will take priority above all, but it’s still nice to let her know she is loved and appreciated as a person. Add something sweet for her, whether it’s an edible chocolate treat, or scented bath salts, just to let her know she’s special.

These days, there are unlimited varieties and terrific value for your money in giving a gift basket. It is a versatile, gorgeous, and practical gift that delights every person who receives one. They can be tailored to occasion and baby gender, and showcase a bountiful array of thoughtful gifts.

You can find baby gift baskets online, shop by theme and price range, and find a high quality selection of premium items in a beautifully presented gift basket. It absolutely saves you precious time shopping several different stores for each item, and it saves you the cost and inevitable headache of buying paper and wrapping the gift yourself. Many companies will deliver the next day.

So, need a practical and pretty gift for baby? Try ordering a luxurious, beautiful gift basket.

Not such hard work , after all.

Wall water fountains are splendid decorations, aesthetically charming, perhaps even beautiful. Installing your very own fountain may instantly improve the visual impact of any home or garden. Some people insist that installing a wall water fountain cleans the air and improves respiratory function, while fortifying your body against disease and depression, because a water fountain produces “negative ions.”

Wall fountains are easy and charming ways to bring some class and characte to your home or garden. But there is also a lot of information circling around the internet that suggests these water features are host to a variety of health benefits, as well. It has been suggested that fountains improve physical as well as mental wellbeing, but does this claim hold water? Can a fountain really combat disease?

The problem with these claims is that there is not a lot of hard evidence to support them. The unfortunate thing is that very few impartial studies have been conducted over the years, and those that do often get very little publicity or merit in the scientific community. Some experiments have been conducted, however, that show that there is in fact a correlation between wall fountains and personal health. These water fountains may not “cause” improved wellbeing and healthfulness, but they certainly don’t hurt, and may even help… on a small scale. Now we ought to take a look at some of these water fountain health claims.

Some people laud the importance of “negative ions,” which are produced by water fountains, and say that these particles improve general respiratory function and strengthen your body’s immune system against certain diseases and mental issues. The so called “negative ions” are inappropriately named, as they are not actually ions at all. They are actually a number of negatively charged oxygen and/or nitrogen molecules that are surrounded by water molecules. Studies have shown that these “ions” don’t actively clean the air, nor do they produce any great benefits. However, the negatively charged particles in negative ions tend to attract (and subsequently bond to) bioaerosols and dust particles in the air. The bond allows thse particles to fall to the floor after damping them, which makes them more dense. This does limit the antagonistic effects of common air pollution, which theoretically could lead to improved breathing and air cleanliness. While direct evidence is a little lacking, anecdotally negative ions actually do seem to improve air cleanliness, especially in contained spaces. Your home or office will surely enjoy improved air quality, on a small scale, with the installation of an indoor wall fountain.

Some people have stated that wall fountains may significantly reduce stress, and in some cases, it enhances concentration. I reiterate that there have been few formal studies to prove this, but there is a substantial store of anecdotal evidence. Naturopathic medicine, which emphasizes natural cures for common ailments, implies that sitting by a waterfall, or even an active water fountain, may be effective treatment. Some evidence exists that implies some water fountains may facilitate clear thinking and general mental satisfaction, although listening to a fountain while breathing in the fresh air may not immediately enhance your cognitive capabilities. As previously suggested, these “ions” do have a proclivity for removing malicious airborne agents and bioaerosols from your air, and simultaneously producing more oxygen particles. This means that your brain will be allowed more oxygen with every breath you take, which in turn may mildly improve awareness. When it comes to alleviating stress, I think, there are truly few better ways to set your mind at ease than to install a wall fountain. Natural sounds have a soothing affect on the mind, in a similar fashion to classical music or gentle lullabies. It is not uncommon for business owners to put wall fountains in their office, as this seems to slightly improve employee morale and alleviate stress. I believe that this correlative relationship is fairly assuring, even if it is evident that no “causal” relationship actually exists.

So it seems that, while the boasts and claims made by fountain manufacturers and online salespersons may not be completely without veracity, they do tend to be deficient in formal scientific proof. But there does seem to be an anecdotal precedent for a correlative relationship between water fountain ownership and overall improved health. In the end, a wall fountain will not cure any disease, though it may modestly help to prevent ailment , and will likely improve your overall wellbeing in a very subtle manner.

The
one common problem most people have is memory retention. Most people tend to
forget what they have learned or been told to remember within a short period of
time. This is one of the problems facing people in this day and age. There is
not enough brain power to go around and some of us are wondering that in the
process of evolution, whether or not we were short changed in the first place.
This is not the case. As a human race, we are all built differently, and each
and every one of us has different physiological and mental configurations with
different strengths and weaknesses. While some of us might be good at numbers,
there will always be people who are horrible at them.

Some
of us might be extra creative, while some of us might be better at
understanding and executing technical data. It is not really because we are all
that different - but it is really a question of how we use our brains. There
are many things that actually factor in when considering our strengths and
weaknesses. Scientists believe that the base level of genetics has something to
do with the phenomena of people having different mental capacities. How we are
built and our lineage has something to do with it. Also, it is also how the subconscious
is formed and shape through years of experience in childhood, the environments
we were exposed to, the sorts of shows we watch, the books we read, the
upbringing we had. And these are just some of the factors that affect brainwave
patterns.

When
someone is brought up in a technical environment with more of a focus on
mathematics, engineering and formal education, our subconscious will translate
that into a natural mental affinity for numbers and figures. Then there is a
wild card situation. Sometimes, we are just born with specific mental talents
that we have no control of. Sometimes they can lay dormant within us for the
longest time, or they can remain with us no matter what we do and what we are
exposed to.

So
with such varying tribes of thought, how do we understand how the mind works?
In all honesty, the mind is still a mystery even to the most advanced ethos of
science and medicine. Till this day, we are only using a percentage of the
brain and what the rest holds for us is still largely unknown. But thankfully,
we have been able to find out how to use the subconscious and the methods to go
past the normal defences of the mind and reach deep into the recesses of the
unconscious.

Brainwave
entrainment can alter the brainwave states of our mind and unlock key and super
states - boosting your brain power. While we may not be as smart as a child
prodigy in maths, we can at least increase our capacity for the subject
multiple times. It is one of the ways we can level the playing field and give
us an advantage in life that we all need. Brainwave entrainment technology is
far and wide , and some of them can be found easily online.

If you pride yourself on how well you “stay flexible” or “adapt to whatever the company needs,” you’re at risk of a malady I’ve just dubbed “Gumby-itis.” Gumby is a children’s toy that can be bent and stretched considerably without breaking. In fact, that’s about all you can do with Gumby. If a child wants or needs anything but flexibility, Gumby gets left on the floor, abandoned for a toy with a more interesting purpose.

The Gumby character, who had a television show for many years, always wants to do what’s right and what’s good. He wants to be helpful. His heart is in the right place.

Highly flexible people can become a lot like the organizational Gumby. Sometimes that’s advantageous, but the biggest mistake flexible people make when internal competition is tough is to adopt the strategy of staying so flexible that no decision-maker really knows what you want.

When internal competition increases — as it now has in nearly every company — it’s easy to innocently make this one big mistake, but it will leave you unfulfilled and no better off.

I know I’m working with someone who suffers from Gumby-itis when the people above him or her in the organization say, “I’d like to give more constructive feedback and suggestions, but I can’t figure out what he wants.” and “She has a lot of talent and has been successful in several completely unrelated jobs, but I can’t help her get where she’s going if she doesn’t tell me where that is.”

If this is you, you must do one thing differently, starting today: Claim Your Space. Claim it!

There’s something you must understand here in order to see why this is so important: the majority of leaders suffer from the opposite of Gumby-itis, which might be termed, “Will of Steel-itis.” They decide what they want, they claim it, and they charge forward until it’s theirs.

They love direction and they love a clearly defined goal in any aspect of their lives. It gives them shivers up and down their spines. When you tell them “I’m staying flexible in these uncertain times and I’ll happily fill any gap,” it drives them nuts. They don’t know what to do with that. It’s not a goal. It’s a wishy-washy statement.

So when an opportunity comes along that you really want, they don’t even realize you want it because you haven’t told them, and they plug in someone who has claimed that space instead of you. You’ll get what’s left over, which is usually not a role that excites you.

Don’t blame the boss. Maybe he or she didn’t see your talent, but a boss is busy looking in a lot of directions and doesn’t always have the time to figure out what you’re not telling him or her.

You’ve got to claim that space if you want it to be yours.

What if you can’t decide which space to claim? As someone who’s struggled with “entrepreneurial ADD” my whole life, believe me: I feel your pain! So many great business ideas, only 24 hours in a day. But that doesn’t change the fundamental fact that we flexible folks get farther and have more satisfaction by making a choice and claiming our space. Survey the territory you occupy and then just pick something that interests you, benefits the company, and is aligned with key priorities.

Define your ideal role within the context of the company, its business, its current challenges, and its long-term strategy. It’s likely that this role doesn’t really exist, and it may never exist, but at least it gives decision-makers something that more closely resembles a goal.

Make it known that you would like to be considered for similar roles as the need arises, or better yet, offer to take on some responsibilities in this area, in addition to your current job. Most importantly, ask for their feedback as to how you can focus your own development efforts to become the best possible candidate for such a role.

I came across a Columbia University study recently that found people are 50% more likely to help out than we think they are. If you’ve been helping others , you can bet most of them now want to help you right back. Give those goal-loving “Will of Steel” folks what they need in order to do just that. Claim your space!

How to Design your Backyard Getaway for Outdoor Patio Furniture

Whether you live in the south or the north a patio umbrella is an attractive element in the design of your patio backyard getaway. Dinner and dining under the protection of the umbrella adds another dimension to your outdoor living.
Before you purchase anything for your backyard it is wise to consider all the alternatives that could provide shade and protection from the weather. What comes to mind is the gazebo, canopy awning, porch addition or umbrella. Your budget and space will determine if you want to look into an addition and if that isn’t an option then consider the rest. Think about the area you want to cover and the flexibility needed to match your life style. Once you have evaluated all options your choice will be obvious. Most times do to budget and flexibility the choice is a patio umbrella.
The next step is to compare all the different types of umbrellas and select the one that fits your needs the best. To help you do that I have compiled a list of tips that will help you through that process.
1. Think about the area and items you want to cover, a table, a table and chairs, a chaise lounge and side table, etc. This will determine the size and basic type. If you are putting the umbrella in the center hole of a patio table, make sure the height of the umbrella; both open and closed works with the table dimensions.
2. Center post umbrellas come in standard shapes; round, square, rectangular, hexagon & octagon, standard sizes; 6′–8+’ determined by the widest dimension of the open canopy. A skyline umbrella is a square or rectangular gable type canopy that offers more shade through out the day. A square canopy has more coverage than the same size octagon so choose wisely.
3. Cantilever umbrellas are supported by an offset post so the shaded area is not centered under the umbrella. It is much bigger, heavier and is more difficult to control in the wind. The advantage is that it can follow the sun for maximum shading and offer another option without the table mount. They are much taller and their canopy is 10 ft and bigger.
4. What time of day are you going to be using it, early morning, afternoon or evening? Morning and late afternoon sun is hard to shade unless the umbrella has a tilt and swivel feature or a hanging valence. This will determine a market or a patio umbrella that has a valence.
5. Securely anchor the umbrella with a heavy base that has a set screw into the post to lock the umbrellas from turning and resisting the winds lifting force. The placement of the umbrella should be protected from the prevailing winds. Wide open areas and high locations are more vulnerable to the winds and should be avoided if possible.
6. Do you want the umbrella to be easily moved or primarily fixed in one spot? If mobility is a concern, think of the weight, size, ease of taking apart and the clearance required to move and effort to relocate.
7. Opening the umbrella can be accomplished by several means; manually pushing, a crank handle winch with a rope and pulley system. The larger umbrellas canopies are heavier and very hard to open by the conventional manner, therefore an electronic opening and closing device with a remote control is an option.
8. The patio umbrella comes in numerous colors and patterns depending on whether you want a shade or weather protection or both. The shade umbrella canopy is very different from the weather umbrella canopy and makes a great difference in the appearance, colors and material selections. The following is a list of popular canopy material in order of waterproofing:

Best-PVC: waterproof and blocks all UV’s, minimum color choices, long life free standing.

Best-Aluminum: waterproof and blocks all UV’s , minimum color choices, long life,

Better-Acrylic canvas: good rain protection, color retention, good UV protection

Good-Polyester canvas: marginal rain protection, fair UV protection.

Fair- Cloth canvas: good for shade only, pool use, breathable, Good UV rating.

Poor-Thatched: wind, air and rain penetrate, little protection , garden use.

All about bathtub designs, including small bathtubs, soaking bathtubs, freestanding tubs, handicap tubs, Japanese soaking tubs, small corner bathtubs, freestanding clawfoot bathtubs, compact bathtubs, oriental bathtubs, pedestal bathtubs and more

Many people believe that because they have a small bathroom they really didn’t have much choice as to what type of bathtub they can have. This may be true, but it does not mean there is no choice whatsoever, and with the new range of modern bathtubs now coming out on the market there is much more choice than ever before. One of the things that many people are choosing is from the range of small hot soaking tub designs, because these enable you to have a really good bathing experience without using up much space in your room whatsoever.

The great thing about them is that they can be fitted in a corner, which means not only do they give you a great bathing experience but they also end up freeing up a lot of room in your bathroom. If you have trouble with storage than this can be a real boon, and is just another reason to take a look at this particular type of bathtub design.

However it really is the bathing experience that matters, and once you’ve used a soaking tub just once or twice you really will never want to go back to the normal type of bathtub ever again. The usual oblong bathtub may be big but it is usually shallow, and the bathing experience cannot be matched by sitting right up to your neck in hot water.

The good news is that there are also many different styles of soaking tub , which means that it whatever your bathroom design you are almost certain to find one that will fit in with your overall style. A great way to look at various styles is to go on the Internet and see what is available from the various bathroom supplies. Once you have seen how many designs are available you really will see that a soaking tub could be just right for you.

This product makes it possible for you to seek information on anyone by accessing some of the databanks. This site should enable you to provide the kind of protection that your family deserves. With it, you should be able to access all kinds of public data and the membership comes at a low price. To know more, read the review.

Knowledge is power or so the trite phrase goes; but it has become all too necessary to know more, if we are to avoid any unpleasant episodes, from that of hiring a rapist to getting medical consultations from a doctor without a license. The reasons as to why we may need access to some of the public databanks may be many but the most important one has to deal with our security. At times like these, it is only natural that we seek alternative resources in order to protect ourselves as well as those around us from any harm. Let’s face it, our kids do not bother to listen to us these days, so we need to take certain measures to make sure that the people that our kids are socializing with are ?safe’ and not the kind with some sort of a record ? of the prison kind. There are quite a few sites that offer background check services but one of the most effective sites, from the reviews, is none other than the Records Access. This site has been getting a few rave reviews of late mainly on account of the cost effectiveness and the comprehensive services that it offers to its clients. The Records Access offers a lot more than just a mere background check making this site one of the few to do so.

We can use the Records Access to check up on a person’s background, sift through the prison records and at the same time investigate to see if there are any sex offenders living near us. The last part is sure enough to raise the hackles on some of us for as parents, we do not need a pedophile living near us. We can use this site to check out the adoption records, so locating one’s parents or even re-discovering the lost family connection is quite possible here.

The Records Access comes with a yearly membership tag of $29.95 but considering the services that it offers its clients, it is a bargain indeed. For there are only a few sites that offer the same kind of services and we can be assured of quality here, or so the reviews say. We may need to take an objective view when it comes to using these sites before joining up as there are quite a few scam sites out there. Anyway, getting back to this site, we can even do a reverse phone look-up and locate the mystery caller with little or no hassle at all.

The Records Access offers us access to a one stop information kiosk for a yearly membership fee that costs less than the monthly newspaper bill. Frankly , it is high time that we took some measures to ?be informed’ when it comes to a stranger knocking on our door. Sure that may seem a bit alarmist to a few but we all know that it is better to be protected than foolish.
